Sunday is a Fun Day

Lots of sewing fun this week and even

some things accomplished!  This even

lead to a change in numbers!

First up, the pineapple quilt top is almost assembled.

There were a few bumps

along the way .  I got ahead of myself

and skipped a trimming step so a few

blocks had to be finished up

and retrimmed so it is almost ready to join.

It looks great tho, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, the longarmer is

way behind and it will be complete in time for

a spring showing on my bed!

Then I zipped up a binding or three!

Here are the fronts. These quilts are RSCs from this year.

Here are the backs! The yellow yardage is finished

so now I can move on to some nice prints.

Getting near the end of the pinned pile.

There are still lots of other things to

quilt in the flimsy vault tho!

Our bee group's charity's headquarters fell victim to fire

so they will be needing additional quilts at

end of the month. These small twin quilts should

do nicely. My BB (best buddy) left a pile of

wonderful quilts to help out. She is amazingly generous.

Holiday events are starting soon so let's all get

our jingle on!

Stay safe and sew on !

Block Bank! Banking day!

Look thru the block bank !

Well this is sure an eye opener!

A brain twist started me thinking about listing

my UFOs etc on a blog page

(thank you Kate at Life in Pieces for the inspiration)

so I dug thru my UFO basket.  It seems a majority are

block parts that should go up in the Block

Bank Basket. However, there are quite

a few that could easily be sewn up into tops.

So  I will be busy stitching up more tops!

There are also a wealth of passed on projects

from give and take tables, "here I am tired of this:

and "you do it " moments. Once those are moved

out of the basket along with the never

started but great ideas bags, the UFO basket

isn't actually that full !

(Okay 14 projects, some are resting elsewhere!)

Look at all the blocks though!

Yee haw some good tops in there!  There are still

a good stack of little star blocks that could be

added into these so the creative juices seem

to have been set in motion.

The first one roughly planned out maybe one of two designs.

An all square top using different sized squares.

I have blocks of squares that look like they should

play nicely together. It could be a true ,

Earthquake at the post office quilt!

The blocks could also be combine with some curvy

nine patch blocks. Really not sure if it would be

pleasing to eye with the curves mixed.

Experimenting awaits!

Stay Safe and Sew On.

Sunday Stash Report , a Misty Morning

Another Brigadoon day for the small town I live in

We are actually a city now for various political reasons,

but small town sounds better to me.

The Brigadoon

reference is from a classic movie of the same name.

Two young men walk thru the mist and end up in

a small town where time and progress seemed to

have stopped.  Not quite the same as here but the

morning mist always brings the move to mind.

We are getting misty morning instead of snow

so I am perfectly okay with that.

Now on to the stitching!

No change in numbers, but lots of sewing this

week. Thirty blocks are  a good start on

the last log cabin of the year.

It will be a 2 sided behemoth for my cozy

collection. I can't miss the chance to have

another log cabin for my bed.  Two

smallish bags of strips were used up in

the making of blocks so it is a win all the way

around. We did venture out for a hockey game

but it was a no win situation. We enjoyed the even tho

and had a great time with family.

Oh, and late last nite I won bobbin chicken!!

There is the empty bobbin, and yes something

still under the needle !  Yay!

Stay safe and sew on !

Buddha bowl fabric

Have you every had a fabric that just seemed to never run out?

I have had three over my quilting calling.

Sale fabric that was perfect as background and backing for a quilt,

I used it up and yet..  I keep finding scraps years later.

Another fabric purchased since it was such a great bargain it

couldn't be left was a red leaf print. The bolt had some cuts fresh

from the factory so I bought three meters.

It really seemed to reproduce over time.

I used some  earlier this year for a binding.

The piece seemed to come out of hiding just for the project.

My next  Buddha fabric is really

two white on white fabrics, one with 1/4" dots and

the other with 1/4" diamonds.  I split a bolt of each with a

sewing buddy two decades ago (or more)  and still come

across bits of it. They seem to show up whenever

I need white scraps!

Here is bit of the dot one, the diamonds are being

 elusive this am.

It is such a delight to find them in amongst the scraps.

Stay safe and sew on!

Here is a Buddha blessing.

  • "Three things cannot be long hidden:
  • the sun, the moon, and the truth."

I guess some of that never ending fabric too!

UFOs, WIPs (12) & Given Goodies(15)

A late night sewing room session ended up with all

the UFOs, WIPS and given goodies getting sorted and counted.

What a haul !  Below is the list and

I will keep updating to stay on track to finishing.

Some projects only need a trim and bit to

finish them up.  Others need a good rework.

There is always something to work on isn't there!

Maybe this would be better on solstice day

but the recent dark days ( sunrise at 8:30am) got

me in the mood for sorting.

Take a look and check back for updates.

WIP = Projects started within the last year
UFO = Projects older than one  year
GG = Given Goodies (projects from friends)
