Anybody else like sampler quilts?
When I first started quilting, I bought a lot of sampler patterns.
They seemed like good value since they included
multiple block patterns.
This is one that was completed back in 2014!
I sent it to a recent empty nester. The blocks are
a combination of hand and machine quilted.
All are machine pieced. It was a UFO , partially complete
that was anonymously gifted to me.
Sampler quilts always seem to hold a surprise or two.
Notice this block?
Quite different than all the current " disappearing "
patterns in use now!
Like many of my UFOs , this one had a few
challenges but they were all size related.
I solved them with careful trimming and
a narrow variable width sashing!
The next time I get stateside, I will have to
check its condition!
Samplers appeal to me since they are
basically a technique and pattern tester.
If you discover you really like one block ,
you can make a whole quilt of it and
already have the pattern!
I am not sure if I ever did that!
A few more sampler quilts showed up
in my dig thru photos. Thank you big brother
google for making me explore
( you are out of space, archive ~~archive!)
They may get even their own posts one day!
Way back in the last century!
1999!
This one is a group wedding quilt
for a co-worker. I did demos for
a few of the blocks and other contributors
found their own patterns.
Gifted in 2012.
One more co-worker quilt.
I must have really liked them to
keep making them quilts!
Circa 1996!
Stay safe and sew on !
