What a late start!!

What a late start for the year, but I finally have a finish!!!

This little pink log cabin will be half of a pair to a new

family.  The new addition is due in three weeks so the

matching multicolored quilt will go under the needle for

quilting later this week .

I made the top during a pink rampage of log cabins

earlier in the year.

The wonky design is so much fun

and quick that I have made it my go to for RSC and

taming at least some of my scrap hoard. Yep I used the

H word.  Even if it is organized I think it should still

qualify as a hoard.  My definition of hoard refers to

treasures so call me a dragon and envy my hoard!!

Some gifted bits of minky were used to soften this

little darling and I left out the batting to make it even more squishy.

A pillowcase flip and a little faux binding

stitching and it was complete in an afternoon.

The first finish of the year and we are

already into April, yikes!!

Must make sure to add some labels!

Let's celebrate some finishes and stay safe and sew on !

Ready to Sew!

Disaster has occurred to my Janome  7700.

It seems to be permanently in the shop waiting

for a replacement motherboard, hopefully used and

inexpensive. In the meantime, my singer featherweight,

complete with its extension table is going to slide into that

spot and keep me happy in the main workspace.

I cleared out the remains of the 7700 and

stored them out of sight so I don't miss it too much.

I have a small table that I purchased at the local

Walmart and have been using as a drop down

sewing table. It puts my sewing machine level

with my other tables and makes me feel like

I have a massive extension table.

It's worthwhile since I do a lot of  larger quilts.

It is also portable so I can haul it to retreats if I want.

A thrifty find of a wooden TV tray set has made

that unnecessary so it stays put now.

First, get the table to correct height, or close.

Oops needs to drop down one notch.

Then adjust the extension table height with

the handy screw up/down feet.

This made the machine too low for the extension table!

I drafted two quilt magazines into use under

the machine, and now I am ready to sew!!

This little featherweight dates anywhere from

1941 to 1957 since the SN prefix is not on the charts.

I still love it and pretend it is from my birth year.

It is great to take to retreats or sew days since it is

light and stitches quickly.

There is even room for my thread holder on my new setup!

All ready to get to stitching! Lots to sew!

Here is some puzzling fabric I found. It is sure

to make an interesting addition to the latest family quilt!

Stay safe and sew on!

Labels All Around

Don't you absolutely love when you find a good deal you can share!

This is one of my favorite finds.  The first part was so good it never

happened again but I did find more at a great price too.

Labeling is always important for both craft projects and quilting.

I have even started labeling family

heirlooms so their history is not forgotten.

I was inspired by finding an adhesive tape  label on

the bottom of a turkey platter. The platter has been in

use for years but the label from the previous household

is still firmly gripping the bottom.

A big stash of yardage/panel labels

is on my shelf and gets lots of use, but I

do enjoy making custom labels also.

My good find today, is quilt label fabric.

Three years ago, I stumbled onto a packet of cotton fabric

sheets for making labels at a dollar store!

There were five in a pack for a loonie.  I snapped up the last one,

but I was never able to find them again.

So, using the package I searched for the

manufacturer and local distributors and voila!

A local art store carries

them in two different quantity packages.

More economically priced than our usual

providers and they come in 30 and 10 sheet packs.

A friend need some lately so I was able to get

for $2.70 a sheet. A considerable savings!!

My new, latest, favorite find!
