My Monthly goal is to get a few quilts
pinned and to get a few quilted too.
So far, I've managed to get four pinned and one started
before we jetted it off with grandkids, to visit an Uncle,
Brother and Great Uncle in Hudson Quebec.
One person, three titles, sounds just like royalty!
We were hoping to have time on the way
back to the plane to stop and see the
beautiful display of tulips have at the capital and we did!
Some were done, but many were beautiful and
magnificent. A thoughtful remebrance of a time
I don't mind pinning now that I have
two 6 foot conference tables to use.
My back is rarely sore and the quilts are nice and flat.
I use a set of six clamps to hold the backing down on the table.
The quilt top folded into quarters,
measures the amount of batting I need.
When the roll of batting gets to 1/2 size , I keep it
next to the table and just pull out what I need.
I took the time to make some frankenbatting
while pinning the last one.
It helps reduce the amount of batting used and
decreases the amount of waste.
There are only so many things I like to do with batting bits.
I will use the frankenbatting to make baby or crib sized quilts
since fusible web or zig zaging make the joining quick and easy.
So here is the product of the pinning frenzy!
and after! Definitely lookes less loaded,
messier, but less full!
This red log cabin was pinned up
just before flight time! I packed
the evening before so had time to finish it up !
throwing our bags around,
it will be on into the quilting frenzy!
Stay safe and sew, pin and travel on!
