Well, I learned that sometimes it pays to read the directions!!
I took a class with two mystery blocks,
and didn't quite get the cutting done correctly.
The precut scrap boxes were called into play, and combined
with a wild family birthday coffee time and a rushed evening,
I made a few booboos.
It turned out to be a star within a star using two sizes of flying
geese. Here's is what my first attempt looked like.
The outer star is lost since the blue and yellow are not the correct
colors in that position! So, I dug back into the scrap boxes and
found more blue and replaced the yellow bits.
Tada! Here is the finished product!
I even managed to get some 3" bonus squares!
Working in a class seems to make me pay more
attention to details and all my cut-offs stayed consistent!
The second blocks we made have a partial
seam so the newbies in the group could learn a new technique
and the experienced quilters could have a refresher.
Mine are purple and red with a striped cream feature strip.
Turned out very nice and easy to do even with the partial seam.
One of blocks even falls into the RSC color for this month!
