Year end finish up!

Sneaking closer to the end of the year.

Our family celebrated our big Christmas yesterday,

and much to the delight of everyone we had a fantastic time.

Gifts were shared, lots of hugs too.

We all ate way too much

and still have lots of leftovers.

Even a few quilts were given.

The Colorful Filmstrip Quilt went to

the sister of a daughter-in-law.

She really liked it and was looking forward to one as

her parents got a quilt last year.

The big 8s and 10s is on its way too.

It turned out to be a 90"x 90" quilt.

Perfect size for them.

Each 10 1/2" block is made by cutting

the stripped set into 8" x 10 1/2" sections and then adding

a 1 1/2" strip of black to each edge.

Square up and then assemble!

It is fun to do and you can make

a lot of blocks quickly!

As you can see, I made a lot of blocks.

Here is the king-size quilt,

excuse the accompanying Christmas socks.

You can tell my quilt holder is out and about.

One more quilt is waiting to be quilted and bound,

and there is even another stack of 22 blocks.

These would make a nice 40" x 50" lap quilt.

I could also go ahead and make another eight blocks,

and finish it off as a small twin measuring 50" x 60".

What to do , what to do?

I will figure it out and use up those blocks!

The large quilt has a durable yellow background,

which came in a 3 m chunk at a guild garage sale.

I enlarged it with a little bit of batik yellow

and it made a very suitable backing.

Such a fun use of strings and strips.

Also, it helps use up my never ending store of blacks!

Stay safe and sew up the season!

Scrapping It Up to Year End!

Fifty of fifty two weeks are past and

the big count down to 2026 is on!

I managed to finish up 2 pillowcases for giving

but have no pictures! Here are the fabrics I used.

The chemistry doctor received thematic

fabric with a flange of medical heart tracing.

The medical doctor received the heart tracing

for the main fabric with a flange of

the chemical material.

That way they can dream about each other!

They were very well received!

She couldn't believe I made them!!

Then we gave her a tour of my sewing room!

Stash-wise, the heart monitor tracing fabric

was purchased but used up right away

so no change impact on numbers.

The large 8s & 10s was bound so a big 11m

move with that one!

Also bound, ( I sewed like a demon at retreat)

was the first half of the Spring String sew along.

That is a twin so it gets a 6m stash movement

Here is a sneaky picture.

They are  up for blog posts this week.

Amazing how 2 items can be so different!
