Stash Report - end of September

Well, I added 7 meters back into my total

but the fabric is lovely and inexpensive!

Isn't it nice?  It will make a fine backing

with lots left over for scrappy endeavors.

I had a wonderful time chatting and folding

material for a stash busting sale too!

We all need to have a plan for our fabric stash.

My plan is to sew it all up!! Isn't it nice to have dreams!?

Here is the new total for the week. Still into

the negatives and a few more bindings

will put me back on track!

OMG For the Spoooky Month

Isn't it fun to have goals?!

I just had to add in this picture of my small

town looking like Brigadoon!

Sure getting ready for spooky month here!

This month I am going to be finishing up

from the the pinning and quilting frenzy of

September and bind everything in sight!

Actually all of my items in the finishing

up phase, (quilting , trimming, binding and

labeling), usually hang out underneath the

big work table with the flannel bins and

the odd bags of scraps.  I think I have

posted a few pictures of the work pile under there.

Currently there are:

four baby sized quilts,

(one needing a fix on the backing)

and two twin quilts to bind.

Getting these all done up before holiday and

travels months kick in will give me a great

start on , dare I say it, next year?!! Time sure

flies when you are stitching!

Lots of Little Finishes

Lots of items going out the door lately.

It feels so good to clear things off the list!

A stack of quilts went off to various organizations

with a few more still waiting for delivery.

Five more wheelchair quilts have been finished up

this week.

This little one gave me some difficulty. The blocks
were quilt as you go orphans and had to be joined.

This border print really lent itself to a nice lap size.

The next two are cousins, same design but
different widths and colors.

I do love color family quilts!

The hardest part always seems to be the backing.

It isn't that it has to match, I just want to make sure

the recipient will like it, and find it interesting.

Lots of yellow was used for this round of backings.

Yellow always make a project brighter and it certainly did

for this bunch of quilts!

Stay safe and sew on !

Button, button who's got the button?

A great gift of quality wool came my way recently,

so I am trying to be crafty and make some button

embellished hearts that can be used a pincushions or key fobs.

Here is what they are supposed to look like:

So far, here are what mine are looking like.

A perfect plan, in place for a road trip, fell

in a bit as I stitched up all the buttons I had

in just a few hours.

That lead to a nice afternoon, sorting buttons!

We quilters and crafters always seem to have

lots of buttons.

I also found a very weird

assortment  of items in my big button box.

Here is the list:

a belt buckle

a rod for permanents

2 red 1/2" pom poms

1 larger gold trimmed pom pom

3 keys, one being a windup key

a pinch shower rod clip

a drapery clip, very sharp

1 fresh water pearl

2 black grosgrain shoe bows

1 push-in curtain tie back

3 1/2" ribbon roses

1 blue game piece

1 metal feather charm

1 3/8" machine screw

1 elastic eyeglass older

I seem to be a very eclectic collector!

The harvest was successful and

I can move on with my stitching.

Stay safe and sew on !

Oh , Moving into Negative Numbers

What a great day for stash reporting!  We are

fast moving into fall and the wheel chair quilts

are piling up! Another of my quilting buddies

joined in with a pair done up to give.

The busy week before my first fall retreat saw

me getting the remaining tops for donation

matched up with backs.  An afternoon of

high intensity, and four more are ready for quilting!!

Let's see if they will be done by publishing time!

Sorting out binding for these friendly little quilts,

was quite entertaining. Two were bordered in a narrow strip

of black.  Black would be a good match but would it

do them a favor or diminish their joy? I chose fabrics with a bit color

fun in them for uplifting bindings!

One has a hint of colored circles and some larger colored bows.

Trimmed down to binding width and the bows

will just show as bits of color.

The other is a binding to match the back and

keep a more cohesive color pallet.

It worked well.

That is a big hint that  five wheelchair

quilts have been finished!

That brings my reporting well into the negatives!!

If I count the size of my stash, I still have

a long way to go!

Pin, pin, pin!

Wow, I had a very productive week!

Sometimes ones sewjo just kicks into

overdrive and lots of good things happen!

    The magic happened last week

and I layered up four tops

from my quilt top vault. I found some

great backs in the my bin of large yardage

off to the races I went!

First up was the purple log cabin.

It got a lovely yellow back with a purple, mid quilt insert

to make the yardage wide enough for this twin quilt top.

Next up was the twin green log cabin.

It too, got a yellow back split by a back matching

floral insert for width.

Then it was time for the next quilt to

finish up the last of the yellow using it as

side strips for a center strip of  20" squares.

This back was used on a small, crib sized log in green.

The last of this pining frenzy,

was a beautiful 1/2 square top that

was part of a stash rid out by a friend's neighbor.

The piecing is very precise.

This baby sized top got the last of the

princess patterned cotton in the box.

A perfect choice for this lovely little top.

Four tops ready to quilt!

It should be a very busy week ahead.

Stay safe and sew on!
