It's been a busy week with
stitching, family and lots going on.
A bit of progress was made on the
new mystery quilt at Conquering Mount scrapmore.
Only four more colours to stitch to finish up step 1.
Another batch of triangles were stitched up
on the way to stitching up some colour
family blocks for another top from the Discovery table.
I even managed to finish up The Starry Nights quilt top.
Stitching late at night is always fun
but it comes with a few hazards.
The quilt was so pretty I had to show it off to my husband.
While doing so I discovered this problem.
Can you see it? I see a few minutes with
my favourite ripping tool ahead!
It is still very attractive but that one error needs to come out.
I also don't like the light background in the star block
(lower right side) , so that may come out too.
My reserve of Wonky pointed stars
has been diminished immensely.
They will be good to make on a stormy evening this spring.

Starry Nights is absolutely gorgeous, Deb! I love it! Such error is so irritating, but before you know you've fixed it!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice, it may be a keeper. The stars around the outside really step it up!
DeleteSuch a pretty quilt! I thought, “Sleeping under the stars would make me have a good night’s sleep.” Glad you found the star that wandered off to the wrong spot in time to fix it.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was a wanderings star , thank you !
DeleteOh this is a gorgeous quilt! I'm sure you'll have that fixed up in no time--glad you caught it!
ReplyDeleteI know, before I pinnned and quilted it ! It turned out well!
DeleteWow - Starry Nights is wonderful. Love those diamond string blocks too!
ReplyDeleteThe diamonds are nice, I thought I wouldn't do another mystery but the strings pulled me in!
DeleteDeb I love those diamond string blocks. Your Starry Nights is a beauty and you’ll have that oops fixed in no time at all. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. Hope this week has you making lots of progress on your projects.
ReplyDeleteA stash clearing sale and a lost filling will slow me down but a little stitching may be done!
DeleteI love all those stars - so pretty with both the dark blue backgrounds and the white. I would want to keep this one, too, Deb!
ReplyDeleteI know! They are so appealing!
DeletePretty quilt top! Why is it we always see what's wrong after we've sewn everything together? Oh well, it's better than finding an error after it's been quilted (ask me how I know.) Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

It is , I sure couldn't see it earlier. Glad you like it.
DeleteI'd leave the star where it is! It's a great quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat's what a few people have said!!! Thanks!
DeleteStarry Night is really beautiful! Love the colors you used and the border is such a nice frame.
ReplyDeleteThank you ! Those white background stars really did the trick!
DeleteHi Deb, the hazards of late night sewing for sure. I looks really good. Thanks so much for linking up to I Quilted This!
ReplyDeleteFor sure I 'll think of you next time I pull an all nighter!!!
DeleteOne hard to notice problem block (not even -- a just one problem piece) among that pretty night sky of scrappy wonky stars is a darn good and very low error rate! Should be a quick fix or maybe just swap in another block and let that star go on the back "as is" in your quilt label. I've watched the "Mount Scrapmore" videos on YouTube for years and always say I want to do one of her projects but haven't gotten to them yet. Definitely need to take another look and see if I can't set up one for leader/enders.
ReplyDeleteThank you , I do love some good scrappy quilting!
DeleteThat starry night quilt is gorgeous (and will be even more so once you've corrected it!) Funny how sometimes it doesn't matter how careful you are, mistakes still happen, good thing you have a trusty seam ripper! Thank you for sharing with us at Handmade Monday :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome. It did turn out very well.
DeleteWow, Starry Nights is gorgeous and I'm sure you'll have it repaired in no time! At least it's not a whole row. I do love the outer star border. Your new mystery quilt looks interesting. I like the colors you've chosen this round. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great weekend and upcoming week!
ReplyDeleteI will . We all just did a stash clear out sale for a friend we are tired but realize we have to sew more! What a burden! Haha!
DeleteYou have put a lot of work into your Starry Nights. Best to fix those things which niggle you, I think. Not that I can see any errors!
ReplyDeleteThank you . Fixing does make me feel better tho. I find a lot of hand me down projects just needed a little fixing to move them forward!! Have a great week!
DeleteStarry Night looks great. So a couple blocks need to swapped. Not a serious problem.
ReplyDeleteThanks, it will be an easy fix. Happy Stitching!
DeleteThis is a gorgeous quilt - love the color play . you could always call it the wandering star and leave it as is haha
ReplyDeleteI thought that too! It would definitely be non traditional to have one out of place. Would that make me a modern quilter?
DeleteOh, I love Starry Nights, what a beauty! The sashings are a brilliant idea. First, I thought that the first star was on purpose ;) Thank you for sharing and linking up!
