Wow this has been a long time in coming.
This circular Log Cabin has been
waiting for completion for almost three decades.
It was a class I took when I first started quilting.
Not paper pieced, just a curved log cabin done by
measuring and trimming each block.
There were no fabulous rulers back in the day .
I must say it waited so long because I'd gotten bad advice,
and really began to dislike this project!
As a new quilter, when my blocks
were turning out too small, I was advised to
take an 1/8th inch seam to make
the blocks the correct size.
Needless to say I was plagued by a lot of
pulling apart seams and
eventually just put the project away.
You may notice safety pins here and there.
Every one marks an open seam that
needs repaired. I am not out of the woods
yet on this one!
As it was on my UFO list and
I'm trying to catch up with the help of
Wednesday Wait Loss and UFO Busters,
it needed to be completed.
I had it long armed,
did the binding by machine
and made a label.
Now it's only waiting to have all the little seams
that pulled apart repaired
before it can achieve its final goal
of being placed on a bed.
Yay progress!
I even fell back in love with
this pattern when I saw it laid out in
the sun! I may come to love this quilt
again!
Stay safe and sew on!

Lovely! I really like how the curved log cabins form that wavy pattern. Thanks for sharing on my Wednesday Wait Loss. linkup.
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird how our tastes change over time and how a different perspective makes us like things again! Out in the sunshine , I really started liking it!
DeleteMuch better than when it was nagging me on the to - do pile!
Fabulous UFO finish. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI've got one of those quilt projects...the kind you don't like
or get tired of. I can't even remember where I stashed it at.
Your Circular Log Cabin is awesome! Have a great day!
Thank you ! Dont worry , it will show up one day and you will have a nice surprise!
DeleteI laughed when I read your description of "dusty hues and rosy pinks". I like the quilt, and I like that you persevered to get it done after all this time.
ReplyDeleteI really thought it would look " old" but it doesn't! So yay a good finish!
DeleteThe power of persistence! (Or just ornery stubbornness?) You said you had come to dislike the UFO but you still hung onto it. It looks modern!
ReplyDeleteLots of both I think! And I left it out where I could see it every day to motivate me! I put it at the top of the list!
DeleteVery cool. Love the colors and the layout.
ReplyDeleteIt is a really really cool design. i would have been frustrated too - but I am glad you stuck with it!!
ReplyDeleteMe too, and it has been waiting so long it is now trendy!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for the finish! Beautiful soft and sweet colors, and the pattern is pretty. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up ;)
