Nothing like a good fabric sale
for a friend to help you realise
how much extra you have in your sewing room.
The weekend found me clearing out a lot of my books.
Some I hadn't looked at in a long time,
and after a good peruse I found that
a lot were more instructional
instead of pattern oriented.
So out they go.
There are a few places
to donate good quilting books.
A local charity that has
big fabric frenzie twice a year,
and a few of local thrift shops
that are in areas with many quilters
are also good outlets.
with a lot of the books out of the way.
I even sorted project boxes
that just said "scraps".
There are a few empty project boxes
on the shelves.
Remember those pins?
More were unearthed during retreat packing.
split pins in 2 sizes,

Great job organizing your sewing supplies!! I need to do that too.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is an ongoing process!
DeleteYou did an awesome job tidying up! It always makes me feel energized after a good straightening. Now you can sew, sew, sew. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Thank you , it does feel much lighter to go into the sewing room now!
DeleteThank you , there is always more to do and I tend to make a mess when I am working on something!
ReplyDeleteA good clean up always feels nice. Sorry you didn't find the pins you were looking for.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I won a door prize at retreat! It was pins!!! It went right to the quilter need to me who was looking for that style of pin!! The universe knows!
DeleteCould you come organize my "stuff?" LOL I do that but then 30 minutes later I'm right back where I started. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt does make for surprising work when things are everywhere. You never know what project you will rediscover next!
DeleteGreat job! I'm bad declutering my quilting books, every time I start flipping through them, I come across something I’d love to make someday ;)) Your shelves are looking good! Thank you for sharing and linking up.
ReplyDeleteI just had to be brutal. A few did come back into the collection.
DeleteI'm not sure I could stand to give away my quilt books. I like to peruse them even if I'm not looking for something specific. But, the end result is a really nice looking space. Maybe I'll try to remove a couple of books. Ones I'm really not interested in. You are inspiring me...
ReplyDeleteI know. I do love some of them. They are just great books. I held on to a few and I am sure I will buy some at the upcoming provincial show! So many ideas !
DeleteYes, I could use a hand too with a big tidy up in my space! But doesn't it feel great when it's done! I only buy books at the thrift stores these days and ones like you mention that have patterns rather than tutorials as such. Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteYou do look organized now!!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb, congrats on cleaning up - I'm very overdue! Thanks for linking up to I Quilted This!
