Woohoo! It's turning out to be a good
morning here in the sewing room.
The bottom of a rabbit hole,
8 x10s are coming along nicely.
The real name for this pattern
is something like 6 and 8s.
I'm using an 8" and 10" variation of my own,
solely because it worked with what I have.
Strings of various widths are edged
by black on two opposing sides.
Here is my progress.
I have enough for about 1 1/2 twin
sized quilts. I'm aiming for 2 twins.
Here is my source.
A bin of string/scraps and other
hidden treasures. Look what I found!
A project ready to go:
A dazzling pile of chunks:
(look at this one!)
and a raft of light/low volume strips
I'm going to be stitching up the blocks into tops
as soon as I get the dividing
black strip on the last few edges.
Stay safe and sew on !

ReplyDeleteI know ! It is just like Christmas morning!
DeleteAll those treasures hiding in the bins! Love your string blocks, they are going to be fun quilts.
ReplyDeleteThank you , I think they will be fun. I over sewed and now I think I'm on the way to 3 tops!
DeleteOooh! Those scraps, strings and chunks are going to be one fun quilt! Have fun with your string blocks Deb. Thank you for sharing with To-Do Tuesday. Have a great week and enjoy your time in the sewing room. 😁 Carol
ReplyDeleteI will thank you ! I've jumped back on the sew along. Definitely making progress!
DeleteDo you have a link to the pattern/idea for this quilt?
ReplyDeleteHmm I'll keep trying to find one. I sew from pictures a lot. I used random width strips or string to make a strip set at least 8 + inches wide and 11+ inches long.
DeleteThen I trimed to 8" wide and added 1 1/2" of black to each side. Then after the black, since sometimes it distorts due to the scraps strips off grain, I trim down to a 10" square. It' s an easy size to make into a variety of sizes. Hope this helps. If I find a link I will pass it on! Happy Stitching!
What a great find! Those scraps are going to make some great quilts. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
