Pin Me Up & Show Me Off

Over time I have discovered that

many quilters seem to be

avid collectors of small items.

Personally, I seem to collect

buttons, beads, pins and odd costume rings.

I also seem to accidentally, collect commemorative pins.

You know the ones who have tucked away somewhere

from shop hops, quilt shows, shopping trips, special

fund drives and special occasions.

They lived for a long while , stuffed in a drawer.

I finally found a great solution used by a few

of my Quilting buddie.

Put them on the wall hangings!

So here they are !

The first is small wall quilt,

made by retired art quilter, Lorie S.

The perfectly pieced triangles are a

great backdrop for these cute shopping and friendship pins.

The next display area is a small quilt I used to cover

one of my sewing machines.

The quilt itself is a memento of  great times,

and the pins add to its charm by highlighting other adventures.

Many also get displayed on

some of my nametags,

The pins get shown off at

 meetings until the

lanyard gets too heavy and

I have to move some of the weight to the wall displays.

  1. Your idea to add commemorative pins to your quilt works for me. I think I might find ways to incorporate them into the design. For example, circular pins could make flower centers and square pins could be the chimney in a log cabin quilt.

    1. They do really add, but the quilt then has limited uses as no one wants to sleep on a pin!

  3. Like you, I sometimes put them on my guild name tag. Cute idea for the quilt for the pins. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings.

  4. Yep -- some are on my guild pot holder, um make that the name tag but it is more the size of a pot holder if you ask me. I know I have some on design wall too. Many are quite old (10 - 15 years old...) They often are supported by happy memories of where I got the pins.

    1. I have some nametags that are like that also, very large. I will probably pick up another pin at the next quilt show!

  5. You've found some fun ways to display your pins. I'm not a pin collector, I seem to collect fabric!

  6. What a fun way to display pins! My daughter recently purchased a pin display for me and that's where mine hang. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.
