Mid month to do!

Well it's time again for a weekly

list of what I'm up to. The weather

has been gorgeous so of course

we've been spending a lot of time

outside, and baby minding quite a bit.

Thanks to science, we're all almost fully

vaccinated so we can begin to see our

families a little bit more. We are using quite

a bit of caution and won't be attending any

large events or festivals throughout the rest

of the year. We're also not going to be doing

a lot of traveling. We will wait until

businesses have had time to reopen.

Still trying to support local small businesses

as much as we can. In other words we order out a lot!

The reno sorting and planning is

moving forward too!  Garage doors

are getting ordered today and

we are checking out the flooring.

 Now on to the sewing!

I have 3 bindings to put on

and 1 top and back to put together.

The small purple quilt is complete and

ready to gift. My surprise box of

scraps last week had some adorable

labels in it.

Perfect chance to use some!

I have binding made for 2 of the florals.

The 3rd binding will have to be cut from

the extra backing

material so that's not too big of job.

That will keep me going for the rest of the week.

Between the quilting, trying to get the

front garden bed looking tidy and child minding

it should be a very busy week.

The weather is going to be gorgeous too

so I will try to spend a lot of time outside.

Stay safe and sew on!

Keep on Quilting!

 Bright and sunny here

and after a great night's sleep

it is time to get moving!

I am a day late making my list

for the week but I still have the

dollar so I count that as a win!

I was busy quilting and playing!

DIL is still on mat leave so we

are helping out by having

little visitors twice a week.

Taking the kids to the park.

We are very fortunate and really

enjoy getting to know them and

our DIL more every time.

Now on to the quilting!

The very last two florals ( I promise)

are in progress!  Both have been quilted

and now just a trim and a bind and they

will be finished!  Yay!

A little squirrel got me during

sew day but this purple baby quilt

turned out so well I don't mind.

There seems to be a theme in my borders

lately and lots of squares are getting used.

I do like the look !

Two big quilts were pinned last week

so the line up looks like this!

➤Quilt summer strings

➤Quilt big ole string stars

➤back and quilt baby purple

➤bind last florals

➤RSC

➤clear some scraps

Guess what I got in the mail! More scraps!

It is always like Christmas when a parcel arrives .

This box has beautiful scraps and some notions.

I did a quick sort ( snoop) and will "to do" them

after the sun goes down .

Now it is breakfast , yoga and a drag around the park !

I am kicking off my running program again and it is

heavy work!  Argh!

But.. use it or lose it so off I go!

Looking at flooring today and

cleaning out the pantry too!

Stay safe and sew on !

OO la la! Sew day fun!

 Wow , had beautiful weather

and a sew day !  Dazzling conversation too!

The variety of conversations at sew

days are truly fantastic! The summer

sewing room did well today!

I made houses (15, but here

are the purple ones)

These are 3 1/2 " cut and very fun to do!

Talked about moose sightings, (we had three moose
right in our small city recently)!
That of course led into more talk
about wildlife, so

we discussed the slightly disturbing

fact of urban coyotes. Most city

dwellers are not aware that single

lone coyotes have adapted very

well to city life.

I found 10 magic pinwheel blocks
while looking for more scraps , so
those went together as the starter for a
small table topper or baby quilt.

There were enough pieces and parts in the
bag of scraps for 6 more blocks.

A  few complimentary squares from
the stash and a very scrappy border
finished it off nicely.

While I was stitching that , talk moved
on to distance walking. A few sewers
are doing some major footwork in the
next while. A walk on RL Stevenson's
path in France as well at a 50 k walk
is planned. That is some dedication!

The plan for this week was pinning
and quilting but it was revised
when the weather cleared and the sun came out.
These lovelies did get pinned tho.

And finally I got some more RSC
blocks ready . The clothesline is filling up nicely!

If the weather gets stormy it will be quilting time!
Otherwise, the patios are calling and the flowers
are blooming.

Stay safe and sew on !

Pinny, pinny, winny, winny!

Rainy days here so lots of pinning to do!

Have a back ready to go, and it is even

memory fabric!  (Fabric that had another

purpose but will become a great back

in its second life. )

It started as a Renaissance  theme

costume for the workplace

but will become a back for a quilt for

one of those coworkers! Yay, I love it

when those things happen!

There is even some cream on cream to go with it!

Watching/listening to Kingdom while

I work. The British show with Stephen Fry.

Should be a great time in the sewing room

capped off by a small family visit tonight!

Just a little parental dedication picture from

my walk today!

  I remember carrying a child

when they were tired , not always easy!

End of week and had a great one!

My pinned pile grew,

three more tops are moving

along toward pinning,

and I even took my new clamps

( thank you Dr. son and DH, son bought the sample,

DH did the shopping)

out for a spin!

Stay safe and sew on !

Not Marie #3

Up next is the front closet !

Lots of family coats , dog collars and slippers.

 Oh and a pin board!

Back when events happened and

the Oilpatch in Canada was booming ,

every event would have souvenir pins.

They were hot items to trade

and if you were lucky ,

you could get some lovely complex ones!

Now the question is , do we keep them

 or pass them on?

They may end up in a nice vase for memory triggers

for stories at family events.

They could be great conversation starters!

Next, the  pictures!

I swap out wall decorations with my mood , the season

or just because .

The out of circulation ones go on the closet shelf!

There seems to be quite a stack.

some have memories , some are gifts and

some are just beautiful!

The family artist was visiting and

advised on what to keep . I do have

final say . The most interesting pictures

was a pair I got at an auction.

The look is vintage New York and

really appealed. A handsome couple!

But, and this is a big but,

it turns out that they are the same person!

Seems Julian Eltinge was an early

female impersonator! There is even a

theater named after him!

Good finds!
Those are keepers.

I saved a whale picture from
the "go " pile
( a retirement memento from my desk at work)
 and did manage
to rid out the chewed and mended 4 times
puppy collar from big Boomer.

All in all a successful sort!

Keep tidy!

Playful Purple

 Wow purple!

Whimsical and fun!

When I am old I will wear purple

Nope

I will dye my hair purple?

Nope

Will I eat purple food?

Yep

Drive a purple car?

Yep, Our family had a purple

Pontiac with fins, we were

bat man before bat man was cool!

And sew purple!

So far my purple is in UFO form.

This little wall item or table topper

needs finishing.

These four blocks need a purpose. Are they blue,

are they orange, are they purple?

There are three purple and one blue.

I have an idea brewing so we shall see!

I also have some tiny houses on the go.

Slowly but surely I am learning the

ways of the rainbow: lots of projects/blocks

and lots of options!

Wouldn't a baby rainbow strip be

wonderful using some of this fabric?

Maybe a purple baby string star to match

a parent string star quilt? Hmmm?

That would be fun!

I have a bag of purple and I'm not afraid to use it!

Great month ahead!

Stay safe and sew on!

Second shot done and dusted!

What a line up!

Yikes , it is time to choose the weekly line up!

This line up is longer.

Working on getting the flimsies

in order will take some time !

Making this part of my  OMG

should help get this under control .

If I get one or two a week

pinned and ready to quilt

I will be very happy.

Quilting  has to fit in between

summer kid visits, the tiny bit

of travel allowed and getting ready for a reno!

So first up :

pinning these last two floral quilts!

There were  so many but

more strips were needing to find meaning!

Next is a rainbow squares quilt.
I do love rainbow quilts, and can't seem
to stop making them ! This is
queen sized, it is just folded in half
on the design wall.

Since I am doing a rainbow,
I will put the rainbow block quilt in line too!

The Aliens quilt is waiting for inspiration,
so I will bump it for this star string quilt.

Six is a nice even number , so I will try to finish up
pinning the Berries and Blue quilt top.
