Sewing on!!

Lots of sewing going on here in

the sewing room but lots of scraps

still to stitch up!!

The borders for the RSC string stars

are coming along.

 Now I just need to

make adjustments to make them fit.

Never an easy task but I can do hard things!

This morning I am working on a triangle

color quilt. This is one of my go to patterns.

 It is oddly satisfying to

mark off each square as I complete it.

I use colored reinforcements on a

sheet cover. I have used wipe off

marker in the past too.  The sheet

protector preserves the pattern and

keeps it from getting so wrinkly.

This design is a great scrap burner

but scraps and coat hangers always

multiply at night, so I have no shortage!

Speaking of hangers, the quilt vault is

turning over but not really decreasing too much.

Four string stars have come in and out.

Three are out for quilting with double batting

and one is ready for binding.  I have added

two softer granny squares and done an

in and out with the red postage stamp top.

So really I seem to be whittling it down a bit.

I have four pinned and ready so I should get quilting!

Big news here, I ordered and received a new "electronic"

foot for my featherweight machine.

Woot woot.  My original feet were frequently failing,

usually at retreats. I would have to open them up

and put the screw back on the switch. So this new

foot will be my traveling foot!

I hear my scraps calling so ...

Stay safe and sew on !!

  1. I like your RSC border. I have my stored patterns in sheet covers but never thought about leaving the cover on to mark the pattern - what a great idea. And those color reinforcements are perfect! Your quilts to be quilted look so pretty hanging there. Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday!

  2. Not sure why it is so rewarding to check things off a list , but it sure is! Wish me luck on those borders!

  3. I love checking off lists! So much so that I often create a list just so I can check things off. Weird, I know but I love it. You have a great system for using scraps and making lovely quilts. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.

  4. Love your color coding tracking stickers, very clever. Making lists is a lot easier than executing allll the steps on them :)

  6. I like your idea of putting the pattern in a plastic sleeve and using the hole reinforcements on the plastic-not harming the pattern. I am going to try that on a future quilt! Great blog post, thanks for sharing it.

    1. Thank you , and thank you from a fellow Michigander! I am from up by Harrisville, but have lived in Canada for quite a few years!! I do love my plastic sleeves. It keeps them nice when they are in my 3 ring binders too.

  7. Hey, my sewing room closet looks like that, too! Thanks for posting about the featherweight foot, I didn't know those were available. So far my old one is okay, but you never know. Great idea for the pattern sleeves.

  8. Borders that don't "exactly" fit the quilt. *Sigh*. Been there, dealt with that and probably will have to again before I'm done quilting. Ha! I too love to check things off a list. It shows progress better than looking into the quilt closet. ;^)

  10. I really like your idea of marking on the sheet protector too! I use sheet protectors on most of my collection of patterns. 5 3-ring binders hold them now, but I had never thought to mark the vinyl! Genius!!!

  12. Great projects and a very clever way of checking off your block progress. My closet looks a bit like yours right now. There are 9 quilt tops hanging in there waiting to be quilted.
