Spring is almost here and retreats are coming up.
I am readying the list and I always make
exciting discoveries going thru projects to
finish/ start or complete.
First up will be the RSC squirrel that ran
into my sewing room right before some
rainy weather. Now I have parts of 3 little color
bombs that will be prefect for our Zebra charity.
adorable color family blocks. They are
so much fun to make!
They just need assembly and
borders at the weekend workdays!
Next, I have had the black log cabins
looking me in the eye for a long time.
Two are ready for pinning, one has a
border to attach and one needs a border made.
fit the quilt center but keep the slashes
evenly spaced.
The next decision is the joining of the blocks.
Should they be sashed?
Adding sashing rapidly ramps up the size.
I do love the sashing look, so many decisions!
Binding, borders and the last of the
blocks will get assembled at retreat.
The solution I devised is to make the border
out of small scrappy blocks just like the center
and float them in black . It should be fun to do
and use up a lot of my bag of Bali bits. It is
a very big bag but it will be a start!
A good portion of this planning afternoon,
will be spent ferreting out some more black fabric!
Leftover pineapple blocks are going together to match
my DD's (darling daughter) baby quilt.
I will have to shop for a back
since I only have blue and brown backs in my stash.
It needs a neutral color so shopping is in order.
Retreats always inspire me and get my spinning
mind going at warp speed!
Let's all listen to John Luc and
"Engage!"
Stay safe and sew on!

Oh Scrap!
You’ve got a great variety of projects to work on. I generally pick very easy projects because I really spend a lot of time talking with the other stitchers. Hope you have a productive retreat season.
ReplyDeleteI like to do that too, the socializing and seeing other sewing techniques and styles is so much fun!
DeleteI adore your scrap quilts! So pretty. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I seem to find so many new ideas !
DeleteI love your black log cabins. I would use black corner stones and scrappy sashing. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOhh corner stones, great idea! Thank you !
DeleteEnjoy the retreat! Starting to make list, to prepare projects is part of the fun, and I'm sure that you will find - maybe while talking with other quilters - the perfect way to assemble your pretty wonky log cabin blocks. Your Bali scraps bag looks full of treasures!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing ;)
Yes ,those balis are like jewels in a bag. I like getting ready for retreat and unpacking since all the projects moved forward makes me happy!
Deletebali bits - how fun
ReplyDeleteI do love those bali bits! I find more ideas for them all the time!
DeleteHave fun at your retreat! I really love the black log cabin blocks and I think sashing them would be a great idea! Love the rainbow strip blocks too! Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings!
ReplyDeleteI just have to make sure the sashing doesn't make the quilt too large. I like the sashing too. So maybe , sash, a skinny black frame , skinning scrap border and /or just go with a skinning scrappy colored binding. Thank you for visiting!
DeleteWhat fun scrappy blocks! I love the ones with the black sashing.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I made so many centers, I now have almost four tops !! Nearing the end of number 4 tho so that is possitive thing!
