I absolutely love the way
white makes scraps pop!
The scrap quilts with white
always look so crisp!!
Here is one of my favorites .
It is also a go to
"crumb block".
I always just called these
scrap blocks . Now I call them all
"Bonus Blocks". They are
a "Bonus " since they are from
found fabric!
I have made this quilt twice,
both of these quilts have ended up with
the family "Brothers" , one in
Berlin, Germany and
one in Naples, Florida.
It always starts out for me when I am
at loose ends and just want to sew.
I grab a bag of blue and start joining.
Yes, I have a box of blue bands
on my shelf for just such times.
I don't count it as a UFO but it is full of partial
bands and bits of blue.
I add to the box in those routine sewing times,
and it is very rewarding.
Putting it all together is such a joy !
I know it will be fun and beautiful when assembled.
I use each row to practice a different type of
design. It is fun and the result is
always interesting. I have found
many favorites with the practice
ground it gives me.
The next one(s) may be in a completely
different color . I think those would look great
and be very fun also! Maybe RSC on a larger scale!!!
Stay safe and sew on!

Fun, pretty bonus quilt!!! Yes, love the way the white sashing pops the other fabrics!
ReplyDeleteExcellent use of those Crumb blocks!! Who doesn't love a "FREE" quilt? Of course, that's assuming that you have yardage or scrap chunks to work for a backing. :o))
ReplyDeleteAgree, the white does make the quilt pop. Love your blues! Funny, but I used to not care for blue but now I am attracted to it. Must be my age!
ReplyDeleteI like how you have those blue bands ready to go. A project on that scale for RSC might put a noticeable dent in the scraps! The white sparkles and brings just the right amount of order.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun way to sew! I could see it in a rainbow as well. Lots of great quilting patterns too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt, Deb . I like how you used crumbs and strips to make such a fun quilt. I like to to do the same. Beautiful job. I can not wait to see your next one. happy quilting.
