Not quite abandoned! RSC

Argh.  I had planned all my RSC projects

and made the fatal mistake of choosing one

with too much white!

So instead of sending

the blocks to the orphanage,

they've been redesigned into something different!

First I tried to make the crumb scrap Irish Chain

but in a small size. It looked incomplete with only

the six large blocks  sooo,

I moved them around a bit and came up with

something that looks a bit like a small hills.

Still needed a little bit of something,

I dug into the wonky star pile and added them to the

sides to make the ratio more appealing.

After a few switches of the colors,

I came up this arrangement! More stars finished

out each side and the size is good.

I am calling it Toddler's staircase.

My flurry of making backs and pinning, created some

larger bits and a nice stripy back will suit this little blue baby.

The stars spice it up nicely and it is a

good save for a project that lost it way!

Stay safe and find a good place for those

abandoned blocks.

Blue , blue 2022 oops 2023!

Well, we are back into blue!!!

This is my third rainbow scrap challenge year.

Doing things differently, I actually have a list

of blocks/projects to do for RSC.

Usually I just punt and hope for the best.

Starting this year with wonky stars.

 The backgrounds will be colors

instead of always white.  These can

be used together with the white star

squares to add more variety to the quilts.

I finished up the stars with a nice stack of sixteen to put

into the parts department.

While looking for more white scraps, lots of  strips

showed up!

Three, yes three  wonky log cabin tops were

finished up during the week's sewing! I started

sewing the blocks New Year's day.

They are measuring (56 x 80)

so they can easily be  a family quilt when upsized by

adding one more row. I certainly have more strips!

 Stitching up a

matching baby quilt to keep on hand would be fun.

A blue and pink wonky log cabin should be adorable!!

I am trying to work through my RSC list.

A lot of small little pieces showed up during the

bin sort, (I was looking for white pieces to use in the stars.)

This morning, I will sewing up all those bits to prep

fiddlesticks for next month's RSC. Here is this

month's offering and they were great fun to do!!

Next up on the RSC journey is the scrap Irish chain.

I don't have a pattern so a little drafting/doodling is in order.

Can't wait to try it!

Stay safe and sew on !

Focus , focus!

Good morning! Still chilly here with -19 C but

we are getting very used to it since it is December!!

I had a great time in the sewing room last night

after I finally got some focus!  I may have a bit of the

winter blues but I staggered over to my wonky stars

and had a fun and productive evening.

Some lovely gifts arrived in my sewing room this

week,  yes , more scraps!!

Two different friends gifted me scraps.

I even get to keep the box!! It fits in
with my existing project boxes so win win there.

The wonky stars and I had a great time and
my pile is on its way to generous.
Using up some odd triangles and
incomplete squares is very rewarding.
Even these little cut offs have a place.
The square with  the missing corner
gets  a new life as  a star section

My evening of stitching netted eighteen
new stars to add to the block bank!
Here is a link to MSQC video so
you, too can become a star maker!

Today will be spent making more stars, ( they are already laid out, )
and trying to get the pile of  "to bind" nearer to the machine.

The three big string quilts are still waiting!
They fold up so nice when trimmed and ready.

A busy week ahead, getting ready for the holidays
and enjoying winter.  Stay safe and sew on !
