Pineapples are Always Welcome

Diving into the UFO corner for a retreat

project, I landed on the pineapples!

I so love this block and what a surprise,

there were a large number of complete blocks

in the box!  When I discovered the partner

box with white strips, batiks to use and

plenty of both, it was Sahara all over again,

minus the sand and the heat but there was a

good looking love interest nearby so, success!

(That's just a reference to being stranded with nowhere to go

and having something to work with!)

The ruler from Creative grids really makes this

project a delight, although

attention to cutting lines is crucial.

I cut and I sewed and repeated that a lot and tada!

A completed top for display. It did season awhile and one bright

afternoon, I dug thru my box of large yardage, (say that

3 times fast), and found a grand, mottled bright print.

I store my larger pieces of fabric in a bin under my

work table  There is a sheet protector with a snippet

or piece of selvage of each fabric and

a note of yardage on top of the bin.

This way, there is no digging required to find a great fabric

and I know without exploration if I have something suitable.

The fabric on the upper left of the second picture above,

made the cut and off to the quilter it went.

This quilt will go into my Cozy Quilt Collection.

The other pineapple I finished was a wedding quilt

for my daughter. There are a few extra blocks left from

this quilt project that can go into a matching quilt when

an addition to the family arrives this coming summer.

While sorting my binding during the recent declutter,

I even found a packet of satin binding!

It is a fun block to do but a bit time consuming.

I think that makes it a perfect project!

Happy stitching. Stay safe and sew on!!

Leap year Quilting

February has one extra day this year, Yay,

more time to quilt.  I am holidaying away

so not too much sewing going on .  I have

the pineapple top at the quilters. There

should be just enough time, with the extra

day, to pick it up and get the binding stitched when

we return to real life.

That is a very condensed OMG (One Monthly Goal) !

In the meantime, look at these non-quilting waves!

Stay safe and sew on !

Everybody's working for the Weekend!

Yep , we are, working for the weekend this week.

There is a two day UFO weekend and boy do I have some!

First up is the little cuddle quilts to be

made from the GKs( grandkids) sleepers.

A friend gave me some minky  type fabric

so they may get all sewn up.  The plan is to use the

arm and leg bits for a nice fringe around!

Yes this did change up the numbers for

the stash report. The new numbers are:

 2023 STASH TOTAL

Used last week:     0 m

Used year to date:       133  m

                                      Scraps out               0.0 m

                                   (1 bag=/.5 k=.5m)

                                       Scraps In                0.5  m

Added last week:        2 m

Added Year to date:            177 m bolt 27m, bucket batiks 15m

destash gift 68m

Net added in 2023         12. meters

Next will be the pineapple. The rows are ready to join

so I can stitch them up with one small switch to separate

some blue corners.

If all that gets completed, there are two more black/crazy

log cabins that need centers stitched together.  The border

treatment will be different for each one.

It sure sounds like a busy and entertaining weekend for me!

Stay Safe  and Sew on!

Sunday is a Fun Day

Lots of sewing fun this week and even

some things accomplished!  This even

lead to a change in numbers!

2023 STASH TOTALS

  Used last week: 18 m

Used year to date:       151  m

                                      Scraps out               .5 m

                                   (1 bag=/.5 k=.5m)

                                      Scraps In                 0.0  m

Added last week:        0.0 m

Year to date:            147 m bolt 27m, bucket batiks 15m

destash gift 68m

Net added in 2023         -39.0 meters

First up, the pineapple quilt top is almost assembled

There were a few bumps

along the way .  I got ahead of myself

and skipped a trimming step so a few

blocks had to be finished up

and retrimmed so it is almost ready to join.

It looks great tho, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, the longarmer is

way behind and it will be complete in time for

a spring showing on my bed!

Then I zipped up a binding or three!

Here are the fronts. These quilts are RSCs from this year.

Here are the backs! The yellow yardage is finished

so now I can move on to some nice prints.

Getting near the end of the pinned pile.

There are still lots of other things to

quilt in the flimsy vault tho!

Our bee group's charity's headquarters fell victim to fire

so they will be needing additional quilts at

end of the month. These small twin quilts should

do nicely. My BB (best buddy) left a pile of

wonderful quilts to help out. She is amazingly generous.

Holiday events are starting soon so let's all get

our jingle on!

Stay safe and sew on !
