A Crumby Finish Up

Well, the longarmers have come through,

and the big crumb quilt is complete.

This quilt used up a large amount of beiges

for the lattice and large outside border.

A number of people who saw the quilt,

commented that a quilt entirely of

beige strings would be lovely.

The low volume look is certainly attractive.

Each colour block of crumbs is

framed by small border of gray.

Since all but a few small bits of the fabric

was used for the block frames,

I had to scramble to find a matching gray for the binding.

My stash yielded a good match.

The quilt was bound up at

the last sew day of the year.

If you recall, I had to rework the framing of the blocks.

I'd gotten ahead of myself and edged the blocks completely

before they were set into the quilt.

I am hoping this quilt remains a keeper.

I love how every different fold shows a different color.

The look is really appealing and it really reinforces

my feeling that colour family blocks always look wonderful.

Did you catch a glimpse of the new floors?

  7. Those LV string sashings are the best! They really make the color blocks pop & the gray around the crumb blocks is perfect.

  11. That is a great scrap quilt. I don't think of using beige strings in a quilt. Must try to remember this idea! Do you have any left or did you wipe out your collection? Have a good week.
