Jumping Onto a Spring Fling

The deep, dark hole of YouTube videos a

Facebook links, has coerced me into jumping onto

a Canadian scrap quilter's Spring Fling sew along.

I had a pleasant few evenings stitching up

even more low volume scraps strings and bits,

into sashing to to join other unknown

components to complete a mystery.

Sew far I am only up to clue two, but it has used up

a considerable amount of scraps and bits.

Clue number two looks like a diagonal

string block so it should be easy to stitch up.

The design wall has been cleared and

currently holds the start of the

sashed crumb squares. They got off to a bit of a false start,

as the frame I used for the crumb squares was

a gray that turned out to be just too dark.

It has been replaced with a gray print

that seems to be doing the trick.

I'm excited to get more crumb blocks

into a top!

This will end up hopefully using 16

of the scrap squares.

I found even more crumb squares

when I was cleaning up last night!

My BB is coming up for some stitching and

a quilt show so I need to make room for two!

Have a great week stitching!

Stay safe and sew on.

  1. The gray you settled on is perfect. It contrasts nicely with both neutral sashings and the colored blocks. What a great quilt reduce your scraps, at least temporarily. :)

    1. It does! My BB said maybe use a small crumb square as cornerstones so we will see if that works. I'm a charter member of the "Never follow a pattern or picture club!"

    1. Thank you ! I think I need a bigger design wall! It will be 4 x 4 of the colored blocks.

  11. Hi Deb, that sounds like a great project. The gray border does look better than the dark. I'm looking forward to seeing your finished quilt! Thanks for linking up to Free Motion Mavericks! Have a great week.
