This is the first top of Covid quaratine.

Lots of fun to make with great fabrics.

One row did get out of line, ( 2/3 down)

but that is an easy fix!

It will be off to Hendersonville, SC when complete.
It was inspired by a Pin from the
 quiltingland.com designed by
Osie Lebowitz of Timeless Treasures fabric

Where do scraps come from?

I recently had someone ask me ( not the first person) where all my scraps come from?
They actually asked me where are all the quilts that all these scraps come from?
I started out with a small , clear baggie .

I collected scraps from everyone at a retreat intending to put them into a small ,
thimble ( tumbler pattern) memento hanging.
Then I cut some strips and put them into a  small clear plastic bin.

When quilters heard I was thinking of scraps, they just started cascading in.
After 3 retreats I had bags of "gifts" from fellow quilters!

It was like becoming an orphanage for unwanted scraps.
Cut off triangles appeared in my quilting bag, even in my coat pockets.
The fabric was too precious to discard but they just wanted to pass the responsibility
for it along to someone else.  Like a hand knit sweater you keep passing down to sibling.
All of them went into a large rubber tote.
Three bins later, I am building a wall.

Actually I do make a lot of quilts and they do produce a lot of scraps.
My stash provides some add in
fabrics whenever I need more blues, more greens ...

Recently got a gift actually of a binding Library.
You know, all the binding we  prepare and never use,
or all the bits left over and put aside “ for another day.”
or even the binding we forget we made and then discover later!

Visit again soon for some of the great ideas
for using up all these scraps treasures!

Just a little scrappy!

Welcome to 2020!

Well, choosing scrap projects always turns
out to be a lot harder than I think!
I want my scrap management to be efficient
but if I try to cut 15 different shapes as I go thru my scraps,
it will take forever! As I meander thru my scrap projects notebooks
I thought I would show you some pictures of a few of my scrap projects.

I flew off to visit relatives and these are some
of the quilts that  went out into the world!

Pieces of the Season!

It's getting to be the holiday season and
tonight it turned out to be like Christmas.
I was at a holiday wind up when guess what appeared? …
two big bags of scraps!

Some of them appear to be UFOs or  partially completed projects .
There are even some fat quarters but definitely
Lots of potential. Who knows!
This batch on the table could end up just like this one on the wall.

This scrap quilt in progress was made
by taking leftover bits that were
residing on my sewing table and
sewing them randomly together.

Then I took one of my favorite size rulers,
8 1/2 in and trim them all to size.
I have a spot where I store
in progress scrappy type units.

After I had accumulated enough squares
I started putting them together.
Joining them in a 4 patch first
gives a little structure to the quilt and
the narrow sashing
gives a nice design resting spot.

Definitely love having genrous Scrappy friends!

Sooo…. How do you store your scraps? Well, how many do you have!

I had to do something so..... they went into a large rubber tote.
Three bins later, I am building a wall.
